October 2025 | Jane Harrison Author Talk
This Friday October the 10th, acclaimed playwright and novelist Jane Harrison will visit Mac.Rob to give two special talks about her writing. Jane's play Stolen has been part taught by our English Department for years and it will be great to get some special insight into that book and Jane's history as a writer. If you are in Year 11 English you will most likely be attending a Period 4 session with Jane in the hall. For anyone else (Year 9s, 10s, 12s or staff) who would like to hear Jane speak please come to room L102 at lunchtime this Friday.
July 2025 | Book Week Author Talk
Week 5 of this term is Book Week and to celebrate we have invited Dr Sarah Arachchi to come to Mac.Rob and talk about her book 'Brown. Female. Doctor.' Sarah is a practicing Paediatrician and her memoir "examines the challenges of trying to blend two cultures while navigating the world of medicine" (Monash University Publishing). This event will be happening Tuesday 19th of August lunchtime in the theatre.
June 2025 | Mr. Hendrick's Book Recommendations
This year we have been asking Mac.Rob teaching staff to give us their book recommendations. At the moment, we have the recommendations of Mr. Hendricks on display. Swing by the library to see 16 of Mr Hendrick's favourite books.
May 2025 | Ann Liang author talk
Last Tuesday, author Ann Liang visited Mac.Rob and gave a fantastic author talk. Year 12 students Khim and Natasha led a memorable Q n A session with questions such as "what inspires the magical realist aspects in your writing?" and "how did you get a raw 50 in literature?" Students were given an opportunity to get photos with Ann and have their books signed by her. It was great to see so many students attend this event and we encourage you to borrow Ann's books from the library if you haven't already read them.
May 2025 | Marcia Langton recommends
In September 2024, distinguished author and activist professor Marcia Langton visited our school. Whilst she was here, she recommend a number of essential books to read to further one's understanding of Indigenous Australian culture, history and politics. You can see Marcia Langton's recommended reads by clicking this link.
February 2025 | Welcome Back
Welcome back to returning students and staff, and welcome to the new students and staff.
The library is open Monday to Friday and is staffed from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. If we are not at the desk, we are in the shelves or in our library office. Which means we will be back shortly to the library desk.
We have new Cambridge Checkpoints 2025 editions coming in soon, plus ATAR resources, and new fiction and non-fiction.
We have booked author Ann Liang to come and speak and do a Q&A session on Tuesday, May 13, so save that date to come listen and get your books signed.
You are most welcome to request books through the Request a Book link or at the library desk where there is a book to fill in.
Please come by the library desk if you have any questions and we will do our best to help you!
